Drinking Water Regulation and Health by Frederick Pontius,

Drinking Water Regulation and Health by Frederick Pontius,
Comprehensive coverage of the drinking water regulatory climate The Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996 instituted wide-ranging regulatory changes to the seminal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)– such as providing funding to communities facing health risks, focusing regulatory efforts on contaminants posing such health risks, and adding flexibility to the regulatory process– and the amendments continue to shape regulations and regulatory policy to this day.Editor Frederick Pontius’ s Drinking Water Regulation and Health provides a comprehensive, up-to-date resource on the current regulatory landscape. Drinking Water Regulation and Health serves as a guide for water utilities, regulators, and consultants, forecasting future trends and explaining the latest developments in regulations. A diverse group of contributors covers topics such as water treatment, water protection, how some of the regulations have been interpreted in the courts, how water utilities can stay in compliance, and how to satisfy customer expectations, especially sensitive subpopulations. Divided into four sections – The SDWA and Public Health, Regulation Development, Contaminant Regulation and Treatment, and Compliance Challenges – the book includes chapters on: Improving Waterborne Disease SurveillanceApplication of Risk Assessments in Crafting Drinking Water RegulationsControl of Drinking Water Pathogens and Disinfection By-ProductsSelection of Treatment Technology for SDWA ComplianceDeath of the Silent Service: Meeting Consumer ExpectationsAchieving Sustainable Water SystemsWhat Water Suppliers Need to Know About Toxic Tort Litigation Drinking Water Regulation and Health is a timely,one-stop resource on the current water regulatory climate.

The Nazi Rocketeers: Dreams of Space and Crimes of War by Dennis Piszkiewicz,
The Nazi Rocketeers: Dreams of Space and Crimes of War by Dennis Piszkiewicz,
In the late 1920s, Hermann Oberth, an early theoretician of space travel, told the world of his plan for using liquid-fueled rockets as vehicles for space travel. To his surprise and delight, he found himself with a group of young German disciples, prominent among them Wernher von Braun, who wanted to turn this dream into reality. During the years of the Third Reich, with von Braun as their technical leader, these men developed the first modern rockets and were in attendance at the birth of the Space Age. Although von Braun and his fellow rocket scientists dreamed of exploring space, they readily embraced the goal of creating weapons of terror and mass destruction. The myth they encouraged after the war described them as brilliant visionaries whose genius was exploited by the Nazi regime. Now, fifty years later, The Nazi Rocketeers tells the true story of how these men enthusiastically participated in the Nazi cause and crimes. The Nazi Rocketeers describes how Hermann Oberth, Wernher von Braun, and their colleagues progressed, from the innocent dream of space travel, through the development of the V-2 ballistic missile, to the transfer of their technological legacy to the Americans. Other notable Nazi Rocketeers are Army General Walter Dornberger, career soldier and von Braun's mentor; Albert Speer, technocrat and advocate of the rocket as a weapon; and SS General Hans Kammler, architect of Auschwitz and director of the V-2 rocket war. This book tells how Wernher von Braun and several of his fellow rocket scientists were early and active members of the Nazi movement; von Braun was both a member of the Nazi party and a major in the SS. For their service to the Nazi cause, they werehonored by the Third Reich and by Hitler himself. Most damning is the revelation that they actively collaborated with the SS in the exploitation of concentration camp slave labor to build the V-2 missile.

Water rocket - Water rockets are like their model rocket cousins, except that these are powered by a combination of water and air pressure. The pressure vessel, the engine of the rocket, is usually a used soft drink bottle.

Nuclear salt-water rocket - A nuclear salt-water rocket is a type of nuclear thermal rocket designed by Robert Zubrin that would be fueled by water bearing dissolved salts of plutonium or U235. These would be stored in tanks that would prevent a critical mass from forming by some combination of geometry or neutron absorption.

On water reaction - A On water reaction is a group of organic reactions that take place as an emulsion in water and that exhibit a unusual reaction rate acceleration compared to the same reaction in an organic solvent or compared to the dry media reaction. This effect has been known for many years but in 2005 researchers in the group of K.

W8- Water - W8- Water is a type of bottled water sold by K&A Beverage Group. It is pronounced weight loss water.
